Original Spanish American War era manufacture, one of a number of issue cups the US Army experimented with prior to the adoption of the 1910 pattern canteen. Stamped steel construction with US in the bottom, and a gray enameled finish. Moderate age, several rust spots  and wear. Some were still being used at the beginning of WWI.
