This is a rare initial production German army officer’s dagger, with brass mounts first used in 1935 with original Troddel, correctly attached. The pommel remains in good condition, showing some wear to the top. The crossguard eagle shows slight wear to the breast feathering as well as the oak leaves of the wreath but overall is in very good condition. The grip is a beautiful, extremely dark orange and remains in perfect condition. The scabbard is in very good condition, pebbled surfaces are fairly nice with a few dents and worn spots, and the throat is retained by a pair of dome head side screws. The blade is bright with just a minor amount of age visible. It is etched with the seldom seen early Eickhorn trademark squirrel with serrated tail. The leather buffer is in place. Eickhorn army daggers of this early vintage are extremely rare and desirable. This item will require insurance when shipped.
