Very nice original WWII Luftschutz "gladiator" helmet. The exterior retains 98 percent of the original smooth, semi-gloss finish dark blue paint. The decal on the front is in excellent condition with minor age toning. The 9 finger leather liner is in very good shape but missing some of the paper rings. The integral black leather buckle  chin strap is possibly a reproduction. The rear inner skirt is stamped RL2-39/21 from maker F.W. Quist GmbH, Metallwarenfabrik in Esslingen.  The decal on the inside rim lists the liner size as 55, which matches the stamp on the leather liner.
 
These helmets were worn by air raid wardens and fire crews during air raids.
